Hey, mama! I have been buying lunches, yes. You're absolutely right, I definitely need to start doing packed lunches again. I used to make lovely tuna salad wraps and pasta salads. Good point, I hadn't even thought about lunches yet! Thanks to everyone that's responded so far. I'm ashamed and horrified by what I've done but I already feel more in control and more positive. I only thought of it for you as it is one of the first things to slip for me!!!! However, I feel that I have one massive halo tonight and can be virtuous......I have just shopped in Tesco in the bargain isle! I got £55.00 worth of meat, pizza's etc for £12.81 - thank god for freezers!!!0

I woke up today feeling pretty low about everything. I feel very much alone and I just feel as though I have a mountain to climb in order to clear this debt. I can't tell my parents about it, they know I'm in a bit of debt but they'd be horrified if they knew how much. I can't tell my boyfriend the true extent because in my head he'll think less of me and I'll just feel mortified having to confess my stupidity. However, I do have MSE and I've been lurking a lot today, reading other people's stories and reminding myself of the old tips.
This weekend I'm determined to list some stuff on ebay and I will also change my Oyster card because I've worked out I can save £20 a month by switching from pay as you go to a travelcard! I also want to do a Tesco shop for the whole week and do my best to leave my bank card at home when I go to work.
Got to start somewhere I guess!

Make sure you do your tesco shop in the later evening, then you can have a halo like mine!0

Hi Ruby
How about doing a big shop when you get paid and stocking up your cupboards/freezer etc? Then once a week just top up with fresh stuff?
If you go to Tesco's late at night you can stock on the bargains too.
I found I have saved a hell of a lot by a) doing a big shop and b) stopping buying lunches.
Please don't get disheartened and down- at the end of the day you are tackling your debt not making it any worse.
Just take it step by step, month by month- you will get there.Debt free as of 2 October 2009
Mortgage free as of 27 March 20240 -
