I struggle A LOT wth being a grown up :rotfl:0 -
Don't be so hard on yourself!
Cut the food budget down to £150 for the next 3 months and go without buying any new clothes ..... just for the 3 months. Use £100 of your surplus as well. Making £350 per month for overpayments......
You will then have paid back the Mint card totally and you will be back on track:T:T
Blimey, TC you made that sound very easy! But of course actually, a little self control and it could be. Thank you for being lighthearted about this and for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. Is there any chance you and your boyfriend could rent a place together? You say he is there most nights anyway, so it makes sense to me! Also can you 'go dutch' on the food you get in for when he comes round - it seems a bit unfair that you are paying for all of this. I do agree with others that you could drastically reduce your food and clothing bill and put this towards your debt. I also would question your electricity bill (as you have no gas) as I feel that this seems pretty low if this is for all your heating, water, lights etc.
Well done for posting and hopefully you will get some brill advice from the peeps on here and be back on the right road in no timeWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -

Well, it's a lot easier to say than do:D but it shows how quickly you could reclaim lost ground if you choose to
Obviously you could take it slower and easier but I am more the fan of 'getting it over with'. If that isn't your style though, your debts are manageable so you could take it slower.
You sound very determined! Please stop feeling ashamed though. Beating yourself up will only make you feel bad (for no reason IMO) and send you scuttling along to the shops for something to make you feel better!
Err....... or is that just me?:rotfl:0 -

Thanks for your comments, Sue!
I've only been with my BF for 5 months plus he's still waiting for his decree absolute (sp) to come through so he can sell the house he bought with his ex-wife. He lives in Hampshire and has a very involving job in healthcare which he can't leave at the moment so sadly, us moving in won't happen for a long time (regardless of what I want!).
I definitely need to stay away from the high street. I don't need any more clothes, in fact I need to list some I never wear on ebay ASAP. I stopped buying magazines a couple of months ago to save money and stop being tempted by fashion.
I live in a former council flat which my landlord bought. I am on an electricity key meter which is £5 a week, I don't have gas and my hot water is provided by the council (luckily) so I'm fortunate in terms of utilities. I just pay for leccy and water rates.
Thanks so much for your kind words xSealed Pot Challenge 2009 # 650 (target £150)Long Haul Supporters # 158 debt free 2014Member of the Blondettes :beer:Debt Free Date: doesn't bear thinking about!0 -
Rubes - dude! Please stop beating yourself up about this. You're addressing it before it becomes bigger - and you know you can sort it and get it paid off - you just need some support thats all:)Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

You're totally right, I am definitely one to try and go hell for leather to sort something out rather than take the slowest/easiest route. I am desperate to start chipping away at this debt. You're so kind to say those things, I am trying to shake off the misery and shame and just focus on the future and getting this sorted out. You've really raised my spirits, thank you xSealed Pot Challenge 2009 # 650 (target £150)Long Haul Supporters # 158 debt free 2014Member of the Blondettes :beer:Debt Free Date: doesn't bear thinking about!0 -

I've spent the last 5 months doing an impression of an ostrich that would have an ostrich fooled. I'm definitely back in the fold but not brave enough to venture back on the thread yet.Missed you tons too x
