Tax credits sent me somebody else details!!

Just thought people should be aware. I received my new WTC & CTC schedule today, the 1st 3 pages had all my information on and awards etc, page 4 had another couples details on and what they where entitled to.
I called WTC straight away, took about 20 mins until I spoke to an advisor, when I advised them about the info I had received I was advised that this had happened on numerous claims and they where asking people to return the documents or shred them!!!
I was furious as I don't want anyone to of received any of my information..the person I spoke to couldnt help me and I am awaiting a response from their line manager.
Everyone check their details when they receive award

That's actually shocking. Imagine if it was a neighbour, and now all the neighbourhood knows all about your tax credit claims!

I would actually send the awards to the people named on them, with a covering letter of what happened, so they can take it up with HMRC directly.
All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.

It was a mistake...an error made my the system apparently.

It happened to award notices sent within past 7 days or so

There's nothing TCO or the persons line manager can do...all they can do is apologise, ask you to return or shred the details. And you will get a new award (correct one this time) and a written apology on behalf of the department

This has been an issue within the last few days and has now been spotted and rectified. As the above poster says, you should return this copy to Tax Credit Office Preston and they are currently in the process of re-issuing correct award notices with a letter of apology.

All affected cases will have a code printed above the name and address. I can't remember exactly what it is just now but I'll find out.

Perhaps all those people affected, can 'fine' HMRC up to £3,000 (as they see fit) for their "mistake" ;):rotfl:
