Bread Machine missing Kneader

We spent a few wedding gift vouchers at the weekend on a bread machine in Debenhams. As they didn't have any left in the store room, we were sold the one on the shelf, with a discount for "damage", because it had a mark on the top.
When we got home (not a short journey) we realised that it didn't have a kneader inside, so cannot be used. Debenhams customer service line have not been very helpful, what should we do now?
Thanks

You could take it back and see what they say, but I think the fact that you bought it knowing it was "damaged" doesn't really work in your favour I'm afraid

Good luck though![STRIKE]Seventeen[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Eighteen[/STRIKE] Nineteen(!) year old student - dim at the best of times0 -
Take it back as not fit for purpose or buy a separate kneader"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Thanks for all the advice: we're going to try and get into the city centre in the car again tomorrow to sort it out,"Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. You don't say what make it is, but if you saved a substantial amount of money on it you could phone up the manufacturer and buy another kneader. Mine was embedded in the bread and I ended up throwing it out, so I phoned up Morphy Richards and got 2 for around £5. it was a couple of years ago now but I'd imagine you'd only pay £5 or so for 1 now. Might still be cheaper than buying another full price one if you got a good discount.
It's only a game

Debenhams are usually pretty good so you'll probably get a refund if they haven't got another one in stcok

I'd phone the shop first, particularly if it's a long trip, to see if it's on the shelf or something, and ask them what you should do. I'd also price up buying a new one from the maker, and perhaps Debenhams will pay for this??
Which bread maker was it??You could take it back and see what they say, but I think the fact that you bought it knowing it was "damaged" doesn't really work in your favour I'm afraid
Good luck though!
The discount was for it being damaged, i.e. a scratch, not an essential part missing!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It's a Kenwood, and we couldn't get through on the phone so I sent my husband in (he had a meeting near there today. They hunted in the stock room for a bit, then offered a refund. He asked for the cost of the part to be taken off, and got another few quid off on top of that.
So all in, we got a pretty good breadmaker for £36 plus the cost of a kneader :j"Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."— Frank Warren0
