First Direct - Are cheques available the same day?

If you pay in a £100 cheque into first direct, can it be withdrawn the same day or does first direct do the usual 4/5 day clearing cycle?

See section 21.2.1 of your Terms and Conditions, and note that depending on what time of day it's paid in, HSBC may delay it by one working day.0

I can IMMEDIATELY drawn on a cheque I deposit in my Barclays account. Not sure about first direct though......Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
Credit Cards - Barclaycard £2000 - Silver Card £1300 - Flybe £7500 - HSBC £1000 - First Direct £2500 First Direct Gold £3000
6 credit accounts closed in 2010!
