You can get a fast train to Slough from Paddington, 12 mins ish. But some pre-booked tickets don't cover those at certain times. There are lots of trains leaving Paddington each hour that stop at Slough so if you are in no hurry the max time is around 45-50 mins trip on a slow/lots of stops train (not including tube time) anyway. Something (fast or slow) tends to leave every 10 minsish.

You sure you want to come to Slough though???!!

Yes, tube to Paddington and train to Slough. Travelling time 30 to 45 minutes plus connecting/waiting time.

No advantage in prebooking UNLESS you can buy advance tickets through to Slough from your origin. That can sometimes be cheaper than separate tickets. If you can do this it will include the underground.

With Oyster card (£3 refundable deposit, purchase from Kings Cross) it would cost £1.80 per adult from Victoria to paddington on the tube off peak (or £4 per adult cash fare, without oyster.) Your 6 year old travels free with you, just go the the lugguage pushchair barrier and she travels through with you, you just swipe your oyster. If you ordered the free friends and family rail card deal highlighted earliet this month on this site, and valid until the end of July you will get a discount on the rail fares from Victoria to Slough.
