halifax upgrading accounts??

hello
Had a telephone call from my local branch the other day asking me to come in for a review of my account with them to see if they could upgrade it to a current account. ( have the card cash/ basic one at the mo.)
Is this something they do as standard? Had the account years ( 12 to be exact!!) The lady did let slip that they are trying to phase out their basic bank accounts.
I have the appointment tomorrow, I just don't know whether to bother. My dh and I have 2 shared ccjs with 2 years to go. We've always used basic bank accounts to stay ontop of our spending. Although a current account looks very attractive, is it worth the search just to be told no?
Thanks in advance

They are not getting rid of all basic accounts just the cardcash account, it is being replaced with the easycash account, this is a regular thing for HBOS and if they are inviting you in the chances are you will get the current acc which will then in turn help for the credit card as wellNew surname New start!

Basically if you have a Cardcash - Visa Electron, soon you will not be able to use the branch and will only be able to use cash deposit machines (same day), telephone, internet and ATM's., & of course shops
Current account facilities are better for some - as in cheques clear quicker, more shops take visa debit card, cheque guarantee, possible overdraft, better interest (one pays 5% is over £1000 per month, Cardcash pays nothing over age of 18) - & can use branch
It is optional but as another poster said - they now only do the current account or easycash - so are offering upgrades to customers. But you have to pass the credit score

that details the accounts0 -

and its !!!!!!! impossible for me :rotfl:
had a cardcash account type thing for years, Electron/chequebook etc, and had a Mortgage with them until recently. never missed payments, never overdrawn etc.
i applied for the upgrade to the Current Account (not funding with 1k) and i got refused due to "failing their credit score system".
basically there is no way they were going to make money from me so they have said "!&$* %*&" :rotfl:
so where do i stand when they refuse me counter service when as a current customer they wont upgrade me?0 -
if u have 2 ccjs u might as well not bother going for this. For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -

the branches are getting machines where you pay the money in and it credits straight away
you can use atm's to withdraw
why else would you need the counter
and just heard that they are adding visa electron to easy cash cards (currently no symbol)0
