Toucan - Should I or Shouldn't I?

Beware to get the 8.99p tariff you have to sign a 12 month contract.
They dont support Caller Display.
Calls with ToucanTalk to numbers commencing 0845 or 0870 are subject to a 3p connection charge.
They have recently been taken over by Pipex/Homecall and Toucan Talk will be amalgamated into Homecall  in due course.0 -
My dad had a cold call from Toucan and agreed they could send him details. When the letter arrived, he wrote to tell them he wasnt interested.
Today, they have taken over his phone line which is now dead. They have abysmal customer service. He has no phone line now, and for any Talk Talk to take it back (where it should have remained) will take up to 10 working days. Toucan say they cannot help at all, and to phone BT!!*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***

I'm with BT but on Toucan Broadband, it took them a short while to setup my account but it didn't work for properly for over 2 months. After a lot of kicking off and frustration i managed to get in touch with there second line techicians the guys who can actual help (i still keep a record of this number) rather than there premium rate line to some far east company with a guy who asks the same 20 questions every time you call and then tells me BT will sort it.
By this point is was very cross and managed to get all my money back for previous months missed and 2 months free and a BT techician fixed it in minutes.
Still will cancel it the first chance i get.0 -

we are on Toucan and have been for over a year with no problems. We are on there unlimited phone line pack and are bill is around £15 a month.Zinzan wrote:Hi there
I am thinking of switching my phone supplier. I have been considering Toucan as an alternative. Has anyone got any opinions on this one way or t'other. I am currently with BT Together Option 2. Are there other suppliers I should be considering?

So, that's £8.99 line rental + £9.99 for those 'free' calls to UK 01/02 numbers. I make that £18.98/month (even when you're away on holiday and make no calls at all), not £15.owey wrote:we are on Toucan and have been for over a year with no problems. Anyway, BT line rental would be just over £2 more expensive at £11/month - so, from that £18.98, £7.98 would be left over to pay for calls if you changed back.
Assuming, for some reason, that you didn't opt for Primus Saver Option 2 CPS (free evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls for no monthly subscription) at the same time, that £7.98 would pay for 266 calls of unlimited duration using 1899. Do you make that many calls each month, every month?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

No thats just for Tucan,as whoever you go with you would still have to pay your BT line rental, and I never go away for a month at a time. I know alot of people that are saving alot more than me, it doesn't take long to find to find a number that doesn't start with 0870 etc.0 -
Now you've got me confused.owey wrote:No thats just for Tucan,as whoever you go with you would still have to pay your BT line rental, and I never go away for a month at a time. OK. You're paying BT (£11/month) line rental and £9.99/month to Toucan for their All-You-Can unlimited UK calls at any time package - but you pay them about £15/month?
If your calls are all 'free', why are you paying them about £5 extra each month?
Anyway, if so-called 'all-inclusive' call packages are your thing, there are links to two (IMHO) much better (and cheaper) Euphony packages at the end of the post which comes up if you click the HERE link in my signature below. They may not be the best deals if you've got time to 'mix and match' but certainly worth considering.
P.S. The 'holiday' part of my reply just drew your attention to the fact that, currently, you have to pay £9.99 for those 'free' calls even if you don't make any (or only make a few) in a particular month.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I pay around £5 a month extra as sometimes you have to ring an 0870 number or a mobile number which are not included in the package, but saying that I don't think any unlimited phone package from any company don't include 0870 or mobile numbers?.Heinz wrote:Now you've got me confused.
