HELP want to buy a new laptop !!

Options
new laptop required advice needed
Hi, I am looking for a new laptop and have upto £400 to spend. Saw a Compaq CQ61-435 in Comet. It is 15.6 widescreen, Dual Core, 3gb RAM, 250Gb, webcam and microphone, windows 7 and Intel pentium - for £399 but can get a discount and pay £374! I know nothing about Compaq and can't find any customer reviews - can anyone give me advice on whether this is a good computer to buy? People have advised me to look for intel pentium, but want something that has webcam and built microphone as well. Any advice?

    Hi bully1234,

My name is Andy and I’m from Comet.

With regards to your query for the Compaq CQ61-435, after searching our range of laptops which are available at a maximum price of £400, it appears that this particular model will best meet your requirements out of the available options. Initially my search returned four suitable laptops (including the Compaq) which fall within this price range, and have similar specifications.

However, upon comparing the models side by side there are several stand out benefits that the Compaq model has over the other models such as; better battery life of up to 6 hours, it the lightest at 2.68kg, and consumes less power overall. The main benefit of this model though is the Intel Pentium Processor T4300, which is a better processor with a faster clocking speed than any of the other models which all feature Intel Celeron Processors.

Below is a link to the manufacturers website for the Compaq CQ61-435 which has complete specification details of this laptop if you wish to check these details.

As a user of laptops over many years, I would recommend Samsung laptops and one of the online retailers such as Ebuyer or Amazon.

    Hope this helps

Nothing wrong with vista and refurbished doesn't mean broken, besides it comes with the full 12 month warrantly all Argos's laptops come with.

Well the CompaqCQ61-435 did it for me and I bought it!

I had a Samsung R530 before this computer, and within 31 days the screen had rainbow lines on it, the internet would not work and Samsung let me down so much with the repair. I returned it to Amazon who immediately refunded my money - fair play to Amazon. I thought Samsung offered bad customer service and would not deal with them again.

Compared to the Samsung v Compaq - I like the Compaq. It is a good size screen, nice keyboard, easy to use, user friendly menu's and I even got a discount of £24 using the Comet web from £399 to £375 for an intel pentium can't be bad!!

    Thanks for your comments.
