Engineered wood floor for kitchen

Had a washing machine leak in kitchen which has caused the laminate floor to lift.
I want to replace it and am looking for a reasonable quality 'wood' finish. Don't want laminate again.
I don't expect another leak but these things happen. I am looking at engineered wood rather than solid wood. Will this be reasonably tolerant of kitchen conditions?

None of us expect leaks, but thats why we have insurance!
I run a Maintenance Company and undertake a lot of work for insurance companies as a result of flood damage. (Are you claiming off your insurers?). People often ask 'what can I put on the floor that is waterproof? the Answer is nothing!
Solid wooden floors as well as engineered floors are obviously an organic based product and as a result will swell when exposed to water.
In terms of the alternatives: vinyl will turn black underneath when flooded and ceramics will lift when water penetrates through the grout.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
