Ill be honest, id never heard of it till you posted it

A quick google tells me you shouldnt enable it. It 'might' help, but it looks like it creates more problems for most people

until I called sky to ask why I was getting such a low speed when they say i am getting more I had never heard of it either leading to the reason i turned to asking here prior to doing any damage lol.

I did turn off the games in windows features as I never play them. I have a 64 bit amd quad core 2.6ghz with 3.00gb ram yet playing games like farmville on facebook are slow as can be.

    They are bullshi**ing you.

The RIP service simply listens for route updates that are issued by routers using a particular protocol.
This will not affect your upload or download speed in the slightest, as the connection was established at the moment the upload/download initiated.

You haved been mugged off by a script monkey, and charged 10p per minute for the privilege (sorry to have to tell you that BTW).

well any idea how I can fix the problem as wife is using laptop with less power and memory on same internet connection than this brand new computer yet this is slower by a mile. farmville takes like 10 minutes to load on here and less than a minute on laptop.

On a typical single router home network it's of no use. A RIP listener will only improve performance if there are multiple routers to choose from that are sending RIP announcements and, they are connected via different interfaces or the system running the RIP listener is a router. This improves performance by selecting a better route to the destination.

I suspect your network is not like that.

Is the problem with upload or download? Use a speed test website to eliminate confounding factors.

    How are the computers connected?

RIP is an out-of-date protocol for use in multi-router, multi-network setups. Basically, it is an automated way of 'learning' about new networks attached to other routers (rather than the doing it the hard way with manually updated router tables).

Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

well if your wife can use the same connection fine it kinda eliminates any cause other than a problem with the PC you're on thats slow, run thru the anti-junk / virus removal steps outlined by Alienrik.

If you have an ADSL2+ connection and really do want better upstream/upload rates you can ask your ISP to switch you from ADSL2+ Annex A to ADSL2+ Annex M. This will boost your upload speed from around 0.5-1 MBps to about 1.5-2.5 MBps and reduce your download speed by a similar (slightly higher) amount. Basically unless you specifically upload lots of large files to other parts of the web you'd want to stay in Annex A for browsing/downloading/streaming/'normal' domestic internet use
