Kitchen-dining room plastering

Have been quoted £1600 for this work in Cambridge (£1260 for labour, £340 for materials).
4m x 5.5m x 2.4 approx => calculated as 23m2 for overboarding ceiling, 50m2 for dot and dabbing walls, 73m2 total skim ceiling and walls
I have 1 door, 1 set of French doors, 2 windows, and a fireplace to get round - no other funny angles.
All the old plaster has already been removed and brickwork is bare - the whole room is empty.
As usual, is this quote fair?
Thanks
Tara

How many days have they quoted? I would suggest its 3 days for 2 decent plasterers. That would be about £900. If they are quoting 4 days, then the labour is about correct.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

hi, i dont know what plasterers in cambridge charge, but im in derby and i aim to make £120 - £150 profit a day depending on the complexity of the work. I work with another lad, both of us know the trade inside out so we work pretty fast and always make sure we leave a perfect job.
From what you explained, the materials arent too far off, once again i dont know about the prices near you but for the materials here i worked out £290. Allowing 2 and a half days for two lads, using the highest profit margin just for arguments sake, makes a total price of £1040.
If your plasterer has quoted by price per m2 :-
over boarding the ceiling £7 per m2 x 23 = £161
dot and dab £10 per m2 x 50 = £500
skim £4 per m2 x 73 = £953.
skrim and bead (parts only) = £25-30
The above price will vary on price of materials and complexity of work but that is a basic idea of what i would charge if i were to quote a job here in Derby. Price per m2 normally is left to site work, when you are at someones house you take more time and care and tidy every night etc so you would find it hard to work on a price.
As i said, i dont know what plasterers in cambridge charge, but i know £150 a day in derby would get you a very good plasterer.0
