Drains help!

Hi

I have put down a 'holding deposit' of £2K on a new build property and have just received all of the details pending exchange. Anyhow it turns out that the drains and road have not been adopted and that this situation is unlikely to change. I have phoned my solicitor but he is away and his secretary was really unable to add anything in terms of the extent of the risk but just said that others on the site have 'put up with it'!

This may be a short term purchase and I don't need to move immediately so do you think I should 'put up with it'? If I don't do I get my £2k back?

ANy help appreciated!!

    Hi
is the road and driveway blockweave? as this is why the council wont adopt them as its expensive to lift and refitt. Alot of new builds are the same now
Always on the hunt for a bargain
  • Thanks, yes the road is blockweave, although having spoken to my solicitor (who happens to live very close to the property) he stated that other local residents objected which is why they have not been adopted. In any event, we have decided to pull out and take the hit financially if necessary (although I won't give up without a fight on that one).

Hohum back to the drawing board...
