Maybe if he had scanned and posted on here someone could have helped him.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

  • Well the judge was called Mr. Bean.......
  • The judge said Mr Herron's case was "entirely based on technicality and utterly devoid of merit".

The law is based on technicalities and not merit. That's why we have failed asylum seekers still here after many years when any merit has gone

wonder whether he should have employed Nick Freeman as his solictor

I am all for saving money and fighting unjust laws. However if you want to park your gas guzzler in the middle of town, you have to pay for the privilege. And if you risk it and get caught, cough up dont attempt to wriggle out of the ticket. Thank goodness common sense prevailed.

What have "gas guzzlers" got to do with it? Rip off council parking charges apply to all vehicles no matter how much or how little gas they guzzle. Why can't parking regulations be unjust? This country needs more like Neil Herron and less sheeple who just obey and pay without question. Hope he appeals and good luck to him.

What utter nonsense. So technical things like clearly marking the limits of a controlled parking zone have no relation to the validity of parking tickets? So a council can decide to slap a parking ticket on any car they think merits it?

Landmark stupid decisions like these just erode the public's faith in the legal system being there to deliver fair decisions. This is a kick in the nuts for the little guy who wants to challenge the establishment.

It's also why legitimate asylum seekers get booted out even though they have an excellent case.
  • I have no issue with someone getting a parking ticket for parking inconsiderately.
I do have an issue with councils who sometimes seem to only put yellow lines on roads for the express purpose of forcing people into car parks. Many of these are unusable for me due to the height of my vehicle because there has been a growing tendency to bar travellers from occupying car parks (I have sympathies for councils and the travellers as I can see both sides of the argument). Also, the other growing tendency is to build multistorey - also barring me from parking.
No, I don't have a gas guzzler either. I need such a vehicle (high payload) for my work and in order to save on resources, my work van is my only vehicle. I wish someone would make a van that carried weight but was lower slung.
Back in the days when yellow paint was genuinely only used to stop people causing obstructions they were a good thing. IMO these days councils take the pi55 too much.
Fortunately I live within easy walking distance of the local town centre so it's not such an issue for me.

Not sure there are too many like Mr Herron though who are willing/stupid enough to remortgage their houses to fight a pointless battle, with zero chance of winning. You'd have thought he'd have learned his lesson after the metric martyrs debacle. But no, he says he will appeal. Silly man.
