Yep - Tesco's do some lovely ones for £40 all in. ;)

Can get them quite a bit cheaper than this, Tim. Might even be cheaper than having HSA. Penny, don't even think about spending that much! Check out the Great Cheap Glasses Hunt http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=980721#post980721

This thread discusses all the pros (lots) and cons (very few) of getting specs online too (so let's not bother in this thread!). My specs now cost me between £15 and £40 (depending on the frames) despite my having to get thin lenses because of my coke-bottle astigmatism. Oh yes, and the 2 pairs I got from Goggles4U came with extra nosepieces and screws.

That's very interesting. Thanks, Tawny. I always assumed that as I need a pretty strong prescription, it was going to be a 3-figure sum.

I'll try these links when I need to replace.

That's very interesting. Thanks, Tawny. I always assumed that as I need a pretty strong prescription, it was going to be a 3-figure sum.

Some of the online suppliers have a cutoff point, but I found on ringing a couple up that they were able to do stronger ones for me anyway, so my first pair cost me under £35 from a UK supplier (Specs by Post), so that's the thing to do if you'd rather not buy overseas. Otherwise, Goggles4U go from +10 to -20 dioptres, with apparently no restrictions on the size of cylinder or axis measurement, with thin lenses as standard. At £15, I reckon it's worth trying at least, but do read the thread for a long discussion of a long, long list of suppliers.
