Electroral role will be sufficient evidence that the property was unoccupied.

The important thing is that you have made efforts and have obtained some evidence as to the status of the property. HMRC just need to be satisfied that the house was empty for two years (and indeed, the contractot will also want to be happy if he is to reduce rate his supplies to you), but electoral role is fine.

Anything else you could have ot would have been icing on the cake.
