Anyone else get an email through about this?
Apparantly first come first served basis.

Do we actually think they will manage to get a real service to market?

Are they likely to be much cheaper with the current wholesale prices?

I suspect at best they'll be another 'ebico' type thing where they tell you its 'at cost' whilst at the same time being markedly more expensive than the market leading rates from the 'established' energy companies for the majority of useage patterns....

....and starting small may get hung-up on ebico type isssues such as 'we can't reduce our prices like the rest of the market because too many of our customers are now using less energy than before and we can;t afford to lose the cash' we had a month or so ago.

I'll continue to watch from a distance with a large dose of scepticism :)

No. Why would they be cheaper?

Firms distributing gas and electricity(as opposed to producing/generating) make about 2% profit.

The big firms have a tie-up with their 'parent' producer e.g. BG -Centrica.

Ebico is non profit making(and its credentials are proven) and its prices are more expensive than the 'Big 6' for most customers.

When the gas and electricity industry was deregulated, dozens of firms started up - London Energy, Virgin, Sainsburys etc etc. Nearly all found that they couldn't compete and passed their customers to one of the Big 6.

So how do we feel that At Cost Energy are going to undercut the Big 6? By persuading Centrica/EDF etc to supply them with gas/electricity cheaper than the 'going rate so they can undercut BG/EDF etc?

    Mmmmmmm!
