would echo the hozelock recommendations. we've just "adopted" my parents' old hozelock 30m hose with a reel on a stand. They have had it for 10+ years and it's still in great nick despite having been kept outside at least for all the summers of those years! Had to buy some rubber o-rings as some of them (in the connectors) had perished & split, but now replaced they are as good as new. Bought some new connectors too, they have a slightly different design now but still work great. I love wilko's stuff but think here it may be a false economy; haven't used it myself though - they don't feel quite as sturdy in the shop as the hozelock stuff.

Afraid I can't help with the mixer tap thing though; that is a pain.

    thanks for your replies ppl!

i shall go forth and get myself either a hozelock or some other decent brand with a reel rack thingy as this seems to be the best way to avoid kinks. does anyone care to offer me any advice on fitting the tap connector to my bathroom sink tap (not mixer)?

As per previous postings, try and avoid cheap makes, they do become expensive when you WILL need to replace them.

It is a pity you di not cath the Clas Olson deal last week, 20 m Hozelock hose and all fittings for £3.99 - Yes only £3.99 !!

Just wanted to wish you luck as in all my years of mixer taps i never found fittings that allowed me to water the garden without watering the kitchen as well, i saved around £1 odd a week in a jar and saved up enough for an outside tap to be fitted, a copper piped one not the plastic pipe through the wall job and it cost £40 fitted inc tap which i thought was good.

I saved in the jar again and last week i bought the autoreel by hozelock from Wilkinsons on offer at £52 and its all fantastic, just need to save a bit more for the hozelock gun now as the one i have from the pound shop is awful. I had years of awful kinked hoses and this is a luxury and should last years.

Get a jar started now and you should have all you need for next year, sounds daft but it adds up quite quickly, i`m now saving for garden spends next year so i won`t notice the outlay when buying any compost/seeds etc.
