Ripped off on fuel payment in Belgium?

Not sure where to place this but I filled up at a nightpay petrol station in Belgium.
I paid €20.10 for gas and then found out my travelex card had a lot less on it than i thought.
I contacted travelex and the fuel has been charged at €75 and there is a €74 holding charge that i will get back when the fuel company decides to process the payment.
I have been told by travelex to ring back today to see if it has been processed and take up the overpayment issue then.
Has this happened to anyone else.
I do have the payment receipt, so I'm hopeful of getting my money back but it will be too late for the remainder of my holiday where i am €150 out of pocket

This type of thing happens a LOT at pay at the pump stations. Not just in Belgium. It happens here.
On a credit card it's usually no great issue unless you are nudging your credit limit. On debit/prepaid cards it can be.
I've never seen any reports of people not - eventually - getting their money back.0 -
Pay at pumps at our local asda had a notice of them stating the same, They dont know how much fuel you are going to take so they automatically charge a set fee.
£75 in your case, It may have been the same?
Maybe why tesco dont allow electron cards at pay at pumps?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Its commonplace. As forgetmyname says, Asda charge. When I was in France, the charge was €150 at a Supermarche.0
