My wee little one is 16 later this year.

I think its possible to apply for a licence with moped entitlement and the car part comes into effect on her 17th birthday, Is that right?

I am thinking if we get it this year it maybe cheaper than applying for it next year?

No chance of getting a moped, So wouldnt need to take the CBT.

Car entitlement is not automatic, she would have to apply to have that added when she turns 17.

That's new. Wasn't like that when I got mine at 16 ten years ago. It had moped entitlement from when the licence was issued and car entitlement starting from my 17th birthday. It was all printed on the back of the card.

I could very well be wrong Lee, I'm going on how it was when I got my license (which was 29 years ago).
If anything surprises me, it will be the fact DVLA are adding various entitlements free of charge as & when the license holder comes of age - it's not like them to miss a money making oppertunity.

Its no cheaper unless the prices are going to increase.

I applied before my 17th and the licence didnt come into effect until my birthday. Appears you can apply for a car licence 2 months before you are 17. But it is NOT valid until the date shown (17th B'day)
