Hi all ,

I have a problem with the screen washers on my Clio .

The pump is working , but when they spray the jet seems weak and doesnt coat the full screen .

I have tried a pin to see if they might be blocked , but it didnt work .

My cars due its MOT so I really would be greatful for any replys

Thanks a lot .:)

could be the filter on end of pump inlet in washer bottle is blocked,to confirm pull pipe off rear of jet and try washers if not much water sprays from pipe then filter next port of call.
if lots of water sprays out then get a garage to clean jets with compressed air blower or change jets.

also, it could just be a loose pipe connection at the washer jet or bottle end.

Some blockages can be cured by pulling the various soft rubber pipes apart under the bonnet and blasting an air line (for tyre inflation, at the petrol station) down them. If its a blockage in the filter/pump then it can be a bit more involved to get to.

My mondeo has a gauze filter on the pump inlet as this clogs the pump runs hotter then fails.

The pump itself still works but the impeller doesnt move the water, Try taking the pump out & see if it does have a gauze filter.

Try refitting without it see if that helps, If not possibly a new pump.

They say its best to remove the bumper to fit mine, Utter madness.

My Hyundai accent is like this. I'm told I must remove a wheel to sort it out, which I really can't be bothered doing until it stops working altogether.

It is a mistake to use washing up liquid instead of screen wash

Worthwhile point to make. I wonder how many people actually do that in all innocence?
