Clio Mk3 Lights

Hi there
I have a 1998 Mk2 Clio and would like to change the rear lights to Mk3 ones. I know that if i buy lexus lights they fit both Mk2 and 3 clios, but are the standard lights any different, and does it make a difference if my car is a Mk2 not a Mk2.5 (which was made in 2000-01 and had slightly different styling)?
