Thanks OP, I got on it for my local - not sure what their profile is exactly, I'm a 24yo guy, live 5 mins away, play sport regularly. They don't ask for your weight or your level of fitness, just what level of exercise you already do.

Refund is via PAYPAL ONLY - and is normally after the second assessment which is after 8 weeks (you will have to pay the up-front costs yourself). They have an arrangement with LA Fitness to ensure your membership Direct Debit is cancelled after 3 months, but you are then free to continue your membership and commence a new payment schedule.
    Hope this helps.
  • If signing a legally binding contract with LA fitness for a minimum of 12 months consider asking them to delete / amend this minimum period. Likewise any liabilities on your behalf.

If 'Mystery Leisure' goes under, has no such deal with LA or should LA Fitness choose to, you would be forced to pay 12 months gym membership. Is this very considerable financial risk really worth it?
  • I have just completed my 3 months and can confirm that they are a reliable company to work for. My money was fully refunded and my membership correctly cancelled. The gym was great and I did enjoy it and lose some weight.

    are you sure?

they are very misleading - I'm only going on the gyms near me in London but it looks like all are the same - they tell you that you are

    "Saving £36.01/month versus Peak price"

but that's on the Weekend Rate - and they are charging you the normal amount for this

Like wise the Peak Membership is the normal price so they say:

    "Saving £25.00 admin fee"

You don't really get anything off the monthly membership fees.

It's a stupid way of saying you are 'saving' money.

For instance the Weekend Rate means you can use the gym ONLY from Friday after 5.00pm to close on Sunday

And the other (third choice) rate Club Off-Peak £28.00 per month

Is also at the usual price if you went into the gym yourself (and of course compared to the Peak Membership it has restrictions - ie can't us the gym during peak times) yet they claim:

    "Saving £27.00/month versus Peak price"

    1. But it's not a real 'saving' as it's at the normal price
    2. But it's not a real 'saving' as you don't get the same product/use - to what they are comaparing it to

It's like me saying buy a rail ticket from me from Watford to Rugby for just £21.80

and you're SAVING £66.40 versus the price to Glasgow

I have said this all before.

    These are the usual prices.

    You are NOT saving anything.

Sure get the free months gym.

But then you'll get a better deal going in and asking for a discount.

    rant over

realise what you are saying but i'd only join for the mystery shopping! Yes it's expensive I know I go to a small family run gym £25 a month but thanks for pointing out that it is best to be careful!
