Hi all,
I have never applied a mist coat before on a celling and need to on the following celling below in our spare room (See Image) Its not new plaster but has been clean up and ready for the coat.
Do i just apply a few coats of white vinyl silk emulsion paint or should i use Matt Emulsion on the first 2 coats and also thinned down and then pain the last coat in Silk

always use matt on ceilings.
and you should never use a shiney finish on ceilings at all.
it looks naff.Get some gorm.0 -
Ormus is right - silk does look naff on ceilings.
However, if silk is your preference here is what to do.
Get some cheap white MATT emulsion and water it down by 50%. Apply ONE coat of this water/matt emulsion mix to the ceiling. This is you Mist coat. Then apply TWO undiluted coats of silk. Job done.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
