    If you have a new franchise how about doing a swap?? Get the one making money back off her and give her the one that isn't as she's paid a third for a successful one. This means she gets a business for what she can actually afford and you get your one that is making money back. No idea whether this can be done easily but it seems like the easiest way out of the mess!

    There should have been a clause in the original contract saying that if the rest wasn't paid by a certain date then the whole franchise would revert to you. This would have also saved you this bother but I'd bet she wouldn't have done the deal with that clause in there....
