Selling online for others! Got the idea, don't know how to do the process!

Hi there I hope this is the right place for my question!
I am about to start up an umbrella site where I plan to sell similar products for buyers under one site as there seems to be a lack of this.
I am wanting to know if it is possible to show the product on my site and when it is purchased an order is sent straight to the seller for distribution.
My plan is that I shall take say 50p off of any order that is made, but the seller still sells at his original price so it doesn't cost him anything to be on my site. this is just the cost of the convenience of having these under one roof so to speak and for me to get a proper url.
Say a product direct from the seller is £5, but through my site it is £5.50. £5 of that would go to the seller and 50p to me (there are just example figures!)
My question is that I don't know how to digitally organise this. I am using Weebly to create my site (for now) and it has a product application which is exactly what I am looking for with a picture and an 'Add to cart' button.
My question is how can I organise it that when a buyer purchases a product by clicking 'Add to cart' on my site that part of the price goes my way and the rest to the seller alerting them to distribute a product?
I'd like everything to be automatic but Is this too far fetched?
This is a first attempt at this if you didn't already guess!

I wonder if you are possibly going into an already crowded market. You appear to be suggesting something not disimilair to Ebay BIN auctions or even Amazon /Greenmetropolis/ebid etc?
I sell on a number of sites, either one off items on ebay, or against a catalogue entry on Amazon, Play or Greenmet. What are you offering that gives a seller more than these sites, as you are charging more than some of them as well?
You really need an angle to attract buyers, forget sellers , we are happy to sell anywhere frankly, but lack of buyers is what lets some sites like ebid down. What are you giving buyers that these other sites cannot? What is your 'hook' for getting them in?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's the type of product that will be the selling point!
I'm can't give too much away, but these will never be sold on Ebay or such sites and are very scattered on the net. It will be a good resource for buyers and sellers alike.
Anyway, can you help answer my question about how to set it up? I'm not very good with digital website type things!
Thanks!0 -
Is it adult products?0

Haha, absolutely not! Nothing untoward or seedy!
Does anyone actually have an answer to my question about the site?0 -

I'm sorry to be so negative, but if you're "not very good with digital website type things" are you sure that this is a good business for you to go into?
Sometimes ideas are easy to come by, and it's the implementation that makes the money. Google weren't the only people to say "I know, let's make a search engine for the web" - but they made a fortune because they implemented it well.
It sounds as though the website would be your core business - and not understanding your own core business is generally a recipe for disaster. If you're not good with websites yourself, you're going to have to hire someone who is - and how are you going to evaluate whether or not they're decent if you don't have the skills yourself?0 -
If you want to sell similar products from a variety of suppliers, there's an easy way to do this ... with just a few clicks and free. I'll PM you details.0

Thanks Pastures that sounds just the ticket! Much obliged!

You are either talking about one of two things...1. drop shipping (where you sell something for another site with their permission and you get a %) or 2. affiliate marketing (where you display something on your site, someone clicks on that product, the visitor to your site gets taken to another site, buys the product (hopefully) and you get a comission. Which one is it and I bet someone will come along with some help.:j0

I'm afraid I am completely out of my depth with web design etc however I would cuation you to consider payment options very carefully. Who is going to be paid, you or the seller? If the seller how will you get your comission back from them, will you be billing them at a later date after sale? If you are taking payment, then by what means, the cheapest way is of course paypal but acting as a third party is a minefield as the risk of chargebacks etc would fall on you.
One of my best sellers online at the moment (excluding books) is a very niche item where there is a dedicated trading forum. However, out of interest I listed a few away from the trading forum and am selling large amounts on ebay to a completely new market who had not stumbled across the forum.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At a guess you want something like Istockedphoto but without the credit system. And no weeby wont be suitable.
Not sure what PasturesNew emailed you but you have a number of issues to consider first
Do I collect from the seller the monies owed separately like ebay or do I take the money and deduct the money from their "account"
Several advantages and disadvantages to both.0
