    queen charlotte's birth centre.

their midwives are lovely. avoid the proper QCH ante-natal clinic though - crowded, hot, always running late and stroppy staff, and ask to see the birth centre midwives instead - they are a different species.

i had my second there last week, and they were wonderful.

  • I had both my children at Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital (first when it was in Chiswick and 2nd at its present location.) and I would really recommend it. Althought as sooz said the ante-natal clinic is not great, I never had problem with the staff or the care I received but it was always running late somethimes 2 hours, but as most of my appoints wetre with my GP I could live with this. Also the parking costs are sky high - £1.50 an hour I think.

Avoid St Peter's, Chertsey like the plague. I found the whole experience very unpleasant, hospital was dirty, most of the staff could not have cared less and generally very poor level of care.

I met numerous people in there that had equally bad experiences. This was in 2004 so may have improved but I doubt it!

Hope it all goes well wherever you go.

I would recommend Queen Charlote and Chelsea hospital. I had my son there and it was wanderfull the staff are very experienced. I knew doctors and nurses by name and it was very personal. I was given an options on how to give birth. Everything was explained to me and I received great support during pregnancy itself. So would most definately recommend this one.
    Sainsburys Loan - £6945, Car - £5116, Barclaycard - £13499.99; Sant.Zero card - £500; Tesco card - £716.79; Argos - £116.88
This my and DH debts together. Correct as of 30/03/14.
    LBM - 23/08/13. Total debts then - 30K.

Thanks for all of your comments I did my antenatl refferal form today.

I was asked to pick three hospitals I'd like to go to and choose
West Middlesex Hospital and Queen Charlottes, But I was told cause Queen Charlottes gets so many refferals they only take high risk pregnancies or people who live in the catchment area.

The nurse said that if I just put west middlesex down I should get accepted by that hospital.

Everyone that's been there has postive things to say and I hope it will be a pleasant experience.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
For women with a normal pregnancy, there is no increased risk in giving birth at home. I would seriously consider it - transfer to hospital is not common during labour with a home birth - I never had to do it with the mums I looked after at home.

    Hi Inkie
I had my 1st baby at Queens Charlottes after doing nearly all of my labour at home and my daughter was born within an hour of me getting there.

**Note to other expectants mums- The staff were fantastic**

The staff who attended suggested that my next birth could be at home. I am now in the early stages of my 2nd pregnancy and rather than go to Watford hospital, I'm considering this although my partner is terrified at the prospect. How can I reassure him?

I think I'd be really happy at home as long as gas and air was guaranteed!!

    Take care xx

You might find talking to other couples who've had a home birth would reassure your husband. Or if there's a local NCT group they may do talks etc - I know there was a talk about home birth which my DH didn't want to come to, but the chap whose house we were living in did, just out of interest. That made for an interesting introduction - "Hi, I'm Savvy_Sue, and I'm here with this chap, who is neither my partner nor the father of my child ..."

A friend of my had her baby there last month and was treated as badly as me so it probably is lick of the draw but I don't want to rick it there.

I have heard about wrexham but it's a little far for me as I don't drive.

Has anyone good any good or bad experiences with West Middlesex Hospital?

Keep away from North Midd. My Granson Suffered Brain damage and died there.
In my view through serious neglect of sfaff.
