Sorry I have no recommendations but try to avoid Northwick Park!
If I had all the money I'd spent on drink, I'd spend it on drink.0 -
I had my daughter at Hillingdon and could not have been treated better. The midwives were so helpful and supportive and the ward was immaculate. I was so overwhelmed by the kindness of all the staff that I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it!
However, I have spoken to many people who have had both good and bad experiences at Hillingdon and I really think it is the luck of the draw as to who is on shift when your sprog decides the time is right.
Have you thought about Wexham Park?
Good luck!!0 -
A friend of my had her baby there last month and was treated as badly as me so it probably is lick of the draw but I don't want to rick it there.
I have heard about wrexham but it's a little far for me as I don't drive.
Has anyone good any good or bad experiences with West Middlesex Hospital?0 -
hi india
my hubby is going to the west mid migrane clinic soon i have been to some
out patient clinics in the past but i dont know anything about the maternity
side of it. My local hospital is Ashford, middlesex which had good reports but
the maternity was closed down some years ago now St Peters at Chertsy is
the new maternity place every one has their babies at. I dont know if this
hospital is in your catchment area

had a baby at St Peter's 8 weeks ago. Antenatal and high dependency care is great; post natal is fairly appalling. Having said that, most people say the same no matter where they went!0

Is there any reason why it's advisable to have a hospital birth? Why not book to have your baby at home - a couple of midwives all to yourself for the delivery? I'm a midwife and providing that there are no indications for a hospital delivery, advise home birth everytime.0

Yes - we had both our boys at West Mid (95 and 99 - that's the years, NOT their ages). Lovely people and no complaints at all.
The reason we went to WM is that we also had heard bad things about Ealing

I've worked for years with charities trying to promote home births and now suddenly this year the Government have given all us NHS trusts high home birth targets to achieve!
Going back to the OP, it is worth a think about a home birth, your local trust is obliged to provide at least one midwife, for mine I always had two and you get their undivided attention rather than go to hospital and share one midwife between several mothers. You know you like the food, and you know how clean it is, so you don't have problems with minor infections that babies often pick up in hospital.

The thought of a home birth scars me a little because if anything was to go wrong they may not have the correct equipment to help me.
I don't mind going to hospital because your not there for that long.0 -

Think about it, anyway. See what your midwife at the surgery thinks. If there's a good reason for a hospital birth, they'll tell you!
But until comparatively recently going to hospital to have a baby was the exception not the norm. Yes, I know that death rates were higher through complications then, but the monitoring is such these days that they're usually aware of potential problems and can advise accordingly.Signature removed for peace of mind0
