Advice please - updating addresses

My partner and I are due to exchange/complete on our house sale in the next few weeks, but have only just found a property to move to and had an offer accepted, so will be living with family for a couple of months.
I'm going to setup a redirect for our mail, and will obviously be letting the key companies know that supply the services to the house of the move so that direct debits can be cancelled etc. However, should I update our address with credit card companies, electoral roll etc whilst we are staying with family, or leave this (as the mail redirection will let us receive the mail) and just change it once we have moved to the new property?
My main concern is over any affect this may have on applying for a mortgage for the new property.
Thanks for any advice you are able to offer.

I'd wait and use the redirection service for 6 months as you don't know whether your house purchase will go through as planned. We used the redirection service for six months and didn't really get stuck into changing our address until month 2 or 3 in the new house. You'll be busy unpacking and generally settling in during the first month or so. It's no hassle to collect the post from your relatives house I presume? Just remember that your credit card will remain registered to your old address until you change it.0

Thanks - I was hoping that would be sufficient to save changing the address several times. It's no problem at all for the mail to be sent to relatives, so I'll look into this.0

i used royal mail to redirect and in spite of them saying they only do it for 6 months you can renew it time and time again as far as i can see..... but it costs for each name you enter on the redirect form...0

You can set it up initially for 3,6,9 or 12 months. You can renew it for any of those timescales as many times as you like providing the total redirection period does not exceed 24 months.
It only costs extra for different surnames. If you all have the same surname there is only one charge.0 -
When we moved I redirected for 12 and renewed for 12. It's surprising what things are only sent out once a year (pension or life assurance statements for example)0
