Not answering your question, but i hated flying, until we took our 18month old away, who screamed and pulled at his ears most of the flight.....i forgot all about my fear of flying dealing with that....i now have a 6yr,3yr and 6month old....and no worries about flying, too busy keeping them all in check.

I hope someone else comes along and answers your question soon.

Cant help I'm afraid but I do sympathise with you. I'm exactly the same. I have a flight coming up next week (short haul) and a long haul in October. Do you tell the cabin crew that you are worried? I find this helps.

My hubby is so afraid of flying he won't have any type of treatment or therapy that 'might' mean he gets on a plane ... absolute madness but after 15yrs of trying to persuade him I have just about given up...
His sister-in-law had all sorts of treatment , even managed to go on a course at Heathrow with a flight at the end of it , but she's never managed to go up since..

Trust me, that helps. They will explain different things to you.

I have flown many times, I refuse to let it stop me from going anywhere.
I grip my partners hand tightly and I sweat, its awful.

How do you normally manage? Have you got a flight booked?

Not at the moment but my husband is Spanish and we have to go there quite often and it kills me every time. Usually take Lorazapam but to be quite honest it doesn't seem to work.

I've not flown since 1973 but visit Spain regularly. Why not look at going by train or coach?

Suffer with Arthritis in lower back and knees so coach would be no good. Maybe I should check trains. Thanks

I don'thave a fear of flying as such but a fear of sickness, I was sick on a flight back from Greece once when I was 17 and ever since then I am a nervous wreck that it will happen again.
Went to New York in November and I felt ill most of the time I was there - it's ridiculous. I am going to the Carribean in a couple of months and I am going to try some anti sickness tablets or the wrist band thing from Boots.
It is such a horrible feeling fear, I think you should maybe speak to the doc see if they can prescribe something that might help?

Yes and yes to your questions. I also suffer from fear of flying but a few years ago got really cross with myself about it and took myself off to a hypnotist. I think it worked to some degree. I am still a bit tense getting onto the plane but nothing at all like the panic attacks I used to suffer. And I find that once I'm in the air I'm quite calm and relaxed.

I would highly recommend it. As I say not a cure all but flying is now manageable where it was once almost impossible.
