HELP - Buyer trying to scam me?

Hi there,

I was wondering whether anyone could help me out with a little predicament i'm facing.

I put up a new nintendo DS on eBay, BIN. An eBayer with over 100 feedback, 100% positive buys the item on the 16th.

He paid on the 20th. (~£100)

Along with the payment is a note saying "This is a gift, so please could you send it to the following address: <address here>". Hmmmm?

Despite this, the actual address on the PayPal payment is an unconfirmed address, so whichever address I send the item to, I won't be covered by the PayPal seller protection policy.

What's more, it seems that this eBayer has been buying Nintendo DS's from various sellers and then putting them up for auction on his account.

So....what's going on here?

What i'm thinking is, maybe this seller is putting a Nintendo DS up on ebay, getting the money for it into his paypal account, then paying ME for the item AFTER he gets payment from his own buyer (which may explain the 4 day lag between him buying it and paying?) and telling me to send the item as a "gift", giving me their own buyer's address? Like using me as a dropshipper?

And maybe later on he'll file a paypal dispute saying that he never received the item? Which would be true if I don't send it to his own address?

So...whaddo I dooo?

Thanks

Don't send it to that 'gift' address. You're right to be suspicious.

    It all sounds very fishy.

Insist on sending to his own registered address... that said, he doesn't have one, so the only thing you can do is refund his payment and ask him to verify his address then re-pay.

Has the ebay account been unused for some time?
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

try contacting the address he gave you via royal mail.com 192.com various things like that and ask them
    T&C APPLY
  • On that 192.com website, what sort of other information do they give the person if you register and pay for it? I am a bit worried how much information people can pay for.

send him a very heavy flat thing that'll fit in a post box, (maybe a chunk of a concrete paving slab) but don't put enough postage on it, he'll then need to go to the PO and pay the excess to pick up the parcel!

will cost you a couple of quid, but will have you giggling like a schoolgirl for ages when you picture the anticipation on the face of the person opening the parcel :-)
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

.why???? The buyer has over 100 feedback.and at 100%...so he's legit.
It's fair enough not to send to a different address and I'd agree with that 100% .....but why send a lump of concrete to his home address when there is no reason whatsoever to doubt a buyer with 100% positive feedback ...and who has has paid for the goods ?? You're suggesting the seller takes the money and then sends something of no value to his buyer??? What would that make the seller ????????????????
if i had known then what i know now

    bleugh, this isn't like you:confused:

OK, I agree don't send to anything other than the confirmed address. Maybe just to confirm there isn't a hijack, contact the buyer through ebay and make contact just to make sure it is them.

Then send to paypal confirmed address using special delivery, do not send to a gift address.
