Dusty concrete floor

Hello
In December we had our dining room floor dug up and a new concrete floor laid as the existing floor was sinking in parts due to insufficient foundations. Once we've got the money, we'll be having a solid oak floor laid but realistically, that won't happen for another year.
Since the floor has been laid the dust has been quite unbelieveable, sweeping just creates more dust and I didn't realise at the time it would be so awful. We've had cardboard and a large rug covering the majority of it but it doesn't stop everything being covered in dust after a day.
I found that you can buy concrete floor sealer like this http://www.wickes.co.uk/Hardwearing-Concrete-Floor-Sealer/invt/214270?source=123_4 which should keep the dust down but as I'm a virtual novice with diy I have some questions which I hope a wise person on here can answer for me.
1/ Would this type of product cause a problem in the future for oak flooring when it is laid?
2/ What prep would I have to do (it's impossible to remove all dust)?
3/ Can I scrub the floor with a disinfective mix beforehand (we've had a puppy housetraining in there and whilst all 'accidents' have been cleaned up as we've gone a long, I'd really like to have the floor fully disinfected before it's sealed) and would this affect the product's performance?
4/ Is this type of product suitable for an indoor room as they're all mostly suggested for garage floors?
I'd also be grateful for any other insights/suggestions people may have as I don't want to put down the wrong product or hash it up. If I could afford to pay someone to do it for me I would but it really isn't an option at present.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me,
Cheers

Simple way to do it is using a 5:1 water:PVA mix: paint it onto the surface. You'll need more than you think.
The floor ends up with a non-dusty surface. It's not a "finished" solution and it's not waterproof, but it will keep dust at bay, under your rugs.0 -

Thanks. Would this solution be suitable if we got rid of the rugs and just lived on the floor? We hate the rug we have now and would like to go back to just concrete floor as we're not bothered how cold it is.0 -
Paint it with floor paint.0

Paint it with floor paint.
That's what I did in my garage - had the original coarse concrete surface screeded to make it smooth, then painted it with a couple of coats of floor paint.
You won't need to prepare the floor surface (apart from a sweep to get loose dirt off). Just make sure the room is well ventilated when painting and afterwards until its dried. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -

Thanks very much, I didn't know you could buy floor paint. I shall pop down to B&Q to look at their range, can't wait to be dust free again :j

That's where I've used it as well. It's not cheap but is very effective and there is a reasonable choice of basic colours. My only other advice would be that it needs to be really, really well stirred or you will get inconsistent colour. Did I mention you need to give it a damn good stir?:D
Slap it on generously with a 4 inch brush.
International is a leading brand that I have always used.
Good advice about ventilation as well.0 -

So I should stir it then. I'm not too fussed about having it looking perfect as it'll be covered over with the oak flooring in about a year but I don't want it to look terrible either. Ideally I'd like a paint I can apply with a roller though as I wouldnt be able to be on my hands and knees for very long, would this paint be okay for that?

I dont see why you shouldn't roller it.
You don't need to be on your hands and knees. Just sit on the floor and shuffle along.;)
Don't forget to stir it well:D.
Oh and work towards a door.:rotfl:0 -

Did mine with own brand floor paint from Screwfix- the grey was close to the concrete colour so it shouldnt look too manky if it wears and it was cheaper than the DIY storesIf you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation0
