Manufacturer's warranty expired - replacement cover options.

Got a fairly pricey Siemens built in double oven. The warranty expires this week. Had a letter from Siemens recommending the Siemens Repair Plan through Domestic & General, costing £66 for one year.
Also had a letter from Dixons where the cooker was bought from, recommending their Mastercare cover, costing £87 for 3 years.
Clearly the Dixons cover is financially the better option but I don't know anything about their Mastercare service so don't know if it's reasonable or the kind of thing you don't touch with a big stick.
The cover appears to offer the same benefits except the Dixons one states it may replace your broken appliance with a refurbished one rather than a new one, whereas the DomGen will replace with new.
Anyone had dealings with the Mastercare service or the Domgen?

On a good quality piece of hardware (such as yours) these extended warranties are really a waste of money. Your oven might break down, more likely that it won't !
If you have a look at Which reviews on cookers you will see that they are very reliable - the only people who say they aren't, are extended warranty salesmen and rental companies.
On a cheap item they can be quite a good idea if you think about it. My son wanted a simple food liquidiser. He got an extended warranty on one of these.
Argos's basic own label machine was £9.79, the most expensive one was £22.99.
The expensive one would almost certainly last longer than the cheap one - BUT, for £1.99 he could get a 3 year extended warranty. £11.78 then gets you a liquidiser that is guaranteed for 3 years, plus, if it does "die", they are not going to try and repair something of that value, they will just give you a new one !0 -
they are all a waste of time and money.
dixons make more profit from warranties than the profit on the goods.

The Dixons mastercare can replace with a refurb but they rarely do, if they can't fix it mastercare will write it off and give you vouchers to buy a replacement, they will also pay the Siemens engineers to do any work on it, they only use their own engineers for TVs and computers everything else they use the manufacturer.
I've never had any dealings with Domgen so cant advise on them sorry0 -
search for domgen on here. thatll tell you enough about them.Get some gorm.0
