HDNL Nightmare

We send quite a few parcels via Interparcel and noticed a new option for HDNL which was about £1.50 cheaper per parcel than DHL. To try them out we send out three parcels last Monday on what should be their 24-48 hour non-guaranteed service. All were going to towns in England and other couriers have always delivered in around 2 days and often less.
Parcel 1) Was delivered on Friday - 4 days.
Parcel 2) Was shipped to Drotwich Depot on Tuesday and arrived Friday. Its still sitting in the depot and customer is going mad. (Not helped by the fact he confused dispatch and delivery times as well!)
Parcel 3) Was loaded on van at Bristol on Friday morning. Returned to depot Friday night and is now en-route back to supplier (me I assume). Customer has never seen the courier and didn't refuse it.
All the other companies we've used via Interparcel have been great in both UK and abroad. Have we been extremely unlucky with HDNL or is this a familiar experience with others?
Any hints or tips on how I contact them to find out what they're playing at would be gratefully received.
Thanks

HDNL are rubbish, i has to be said!
Your contract is with Interparcel, so you should contact them. I have found that they are usually quite good at sorting things out.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
HDNL are easily the worst delivery company I have ever dealt with. I ended up waiting in for a total of 4 seperate days for a new mobile phone in March. They put 'failed delivery' messages on their tracking website although they had never actually come to my house and tried to deliver. My package also spent three days showing as 'dispatched' on their systems from a depot 15 miles away and in the end was sent back to O2 who sent it to me via DHL proper. I swore then that whenever there was a choice, I would never use them. I think DHL bought the company a few months ago but it has made no difference whatsoever.
Seems like lots of people agree with me http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews150787.html0 -
OP I've made the same mistake.... Never again!!
Also told Interparcel what I think about them (HDNL) and that internet is full of angry people (just google it-you will see)... I think HDNL made good offer to all agents and weren't ready for the interest.0 -
Thanks for the helpful replies.
Update is that one of the missing two should be delivered today and one was returned because the person had moved house. I've written to them via ebay to check this is the case and will organise with Interparcel another drop.
For info Interparcel told me that HDNL has now been bought by UPS. The level of complaints is astronomic and Interparcel can't get HDNL Customer Service to listen.
Moral of the Story - Avoid at all costs, there is no saving in real terms when you start having to chase. Might be worth a second look when they've had the UPS "wire brush and Dettol" treatment.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. What a load of rubbish!
Interparcel are lying to you, HDN have not been bought by UPS.
Its HDN that have bought DHL Domestic in the UK, HDN and UPS are two completely different companies.
I would take what they are saying with a pinch of salt.
On the other hand, I have used HDN through parcel2go about 10 times, and the service has been nothing but excellent.

I've been using HDNL via parcel2go ver the last 6 months and I have been very imprerssed with them! I've sent about 40 parcels and only ever had a problem with one and that was just a very slow delivery. I always pick the 7am-7pm time slot as its cheaper and I always get a text message from them on the collection day with an ETA.0

HDNL delivered an item to me at 8pm saying that a computer failure had meant it was delivered so late. The next time they delivered at 7pm and on checking online tracking it said it left the HDNL depot for delivery about 10 miles away at 7:30am. Surly the vans aren't big enough to hold enough for 12.5 hours worth of deliveries.
However, overall from my experience HDNL are as quick as 2nd class post but slower than 1st class post.0 -

it depends how big the delivery route is
if you have a duty that covers some rural parts
then you can be driving a fair bit between drops, plus you have to remember they also do collections0
