Ok, apparently up here, scrap cars are around £190 a ton again. Whats the prices around the country? Is this the norm? Or could you haul a car from up here down south and make more.

I dobt it. The best place to get top dollar will be someone close to the docks where transportation costs will be lower.
Steel is currently around £135/ton. Down a bit this month.
I'm surprised at your price of £190/ton sounds a bit high but I would be interested in know the correlation between steel prices and scrap car values.

The price per ton is a one off thats what it was when it went in price. Letsrecycles probably a monthly average.0

I'm right miffed I took over a ton of scrap end of March and only got £110/ton. If I had just waited a couple of weeks I would have got 60% more.0 -

Didnt realise I'd already replied (it's been quite a week lol) but the price for aluminium cans is back to the levels the last time scrap peaked (on letsrecycle).
Round the doors has started again as well and the last time this happened, I gave an old motorbike and the guy said he ran down to Manchester with it for a better price.
The railways also having a lot of problems with cable and even rail being stolen.
The source was someone who weighs in quite a bit from time to time and has friends that weigh in alot. Most of them are down south though.
How much is it down to where you go though? I know he always uses the same one as he recons their prices are higher.0 -
