HELP!!! I've got a PayPal chargeback

Sounds like the £200 is frozen until it's settled... but that they're going to pass on a fee that they've incurred by arguing with the credit card.
Isn't that kind of them?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
But they placed the money in my account at the 'Update to reversal' stage, now it has been removed and my account is in debt to that amount. And the most recent action in the dispute is 'Chargeback settlement - completed'. The dispute is no longer showing in my account as an open dispute either.hjb123 wrote:I would get in touch with paypal and ask them to explain but to me it looks like it is still ongoing. It looks like paypal are in dispute with the buyers credit card company and havent reached a resolution as yet - and until they do they are holding the money for eitehr the buyer or the seller.
They haven't contacted me to say that the dispute is closed or that the chargeback was successful. I have to fight this if at all possible as I simply don't have £200 to pay back

PayPal (in my experience), generally has two paces:
1) For when they are in danger of losing money
2) For when a PayPal user is conned and in danger of losing money
Unfortunately, they don't tend to match each other in terms of speed or efficiency.0 -
I don't think paypal are allowed to authorise withdrawls from your bank account without your authorisation, but if i were you i'd cancel any direct debit and ring the CC companies to put a hold on any transactions until this is resolved, just to avoid any nasty surprises. At least then it can be sorted out on your terms and not theirs.0

Mobile phones and Ebay, a horrible mix.
Contact any other people who have dealt this person.
Get their contact details via advanced search on Ebay (probably give spoof info though)
Try and locate them via b4usearch.com
Good luck, but my experience of Paypal and chargebacks was not good.Happy chappy0 -
Well just got an email telling me the chargeback has gone against me:From PayPal:
As you know, we have been using the information you provided to dispute a
chargeback filed against the transaction detailed below. Despite our best
efforts, the buyer's credit card company decided in favour of the buyer.
Unfortunately, we do not control the outcome of the chargeback decision
reached by the buyer's issuing bank in a credit card transaction. By
accepting the terms of the PayPal User Agreement, you agreed to accept the
decision of the issuing bank as final and legally binding for this type of
dispute.
I have contacted the other person who he bought a phone off the same week and am going to email the buyer too (not sure what to say or how to word it though). I did email the buyer asking for an explanation when I first got the chargeback and have never received a reply.
Is there ANYTHING I can do now or is it pointless pursuing it any further (even though I don't have this amount of money to pay back
)??? 0 -
Did you ring him as soolin suggested?.0

No, I couldn't find his phone number, and not sure I'd have the guts to ring him even if I could find it, I'm pretty upset about this. I tried the websites suggested but couldn't find his details (not that matched his confirmed Paypal address).Dan29 wrote:Did you ring him as soolin suggested?0 -

I'll ring him for you, if we can find his number
What approximate area of the country did you post the 'phone to?
Did you manage to get hold of the seller of the other 'phone?.0 -
You said you contacted the seller of the other phone they bought, any reply as they may also have been 'scammed' - this seems to be happening more and more, I dont think that theres a way around this, people are spoiling it.
Ive had contract phones for years and have sold the handset at the end of the contract and was shocked to hear about all of this when Ive started selling again. I listed 2 phones Sunday on BIN (mine and partners handsets) stated UK only to avoid this both sold, awaiting payment for one and other bought by scammer. I cottoned on and now they are 'no longer registered'. Ive relisted the item and hope not to be charged for the relisting...:think:There is a website https://www.goofbay.co.uk and on it you can see auction information, such as items the buyer is bidding on etc. Although maybe not useful in this case in the future it may help and may be of help to others!:happylove !!NEW AND JUST LEARNING!! :happylove0
