    It didn't even lapse, it just expired. The contract, lasting a year, finished.

    Two things; Firstly, as others have said, your policy 'lapsed' - it was not cancelled and so this in itself will have no long term adverse effects on you.

    However, and more importantly, if your policy lapsed you are currently not insured - this CAN and will cause big problems for you!

    The onus is on you to make sure that you are in possession of valid insurance.

    For the sake of 6 quid just pay the premium and get yourself insured - you can always argue about the £6 later if you can be bothered.

    I insured with them under protest during the afternoon 'phone call
    As a matter of interest, I had a letter from them yesterday dated the 1st of June thanking me for my recent communication and confirming that my policy had been cancelled from the above mentioned date.
