Amazon order dispatched can I cancel?

My partner pre-ordered a video game for me from Amazon. It was released on Friday and we expected it by Saturday.

Estimated time from Amazon is Wednesday 23rd and is currently showing as dispatched and no button to cancel the order. Can I still cancel the order somehow under DSR? I was thinking that I would just go and buy the game from the shop tomorrow morning but don't want to if I cannot return the Amazon one.

The item came with free delivery so haven't had to pay for any postage, can I cancel?

Go into the order settings and select Return Item, and mark the reason "I've changed my mind", you will have to pay for return postage or select a pre-paid label where the cost of postage is deducted from the refund.

Any ideas on how much postage may cost approx? Can it be second class etc to keep costs down?

Look at Royal Mail website.

Sorry to state the obvious but cant you just have a little patience and wait until wednesday?....or are you so desperate that you have to play the game right away as soon as its released?

Fair comment but my Mrs was under the impression that pre-ordering would mean that we would get it first and I have missed out on the last two days of my mates all playing online together and Wednesday would be five days. (that's a lot of time when you play online).

Not trying to blame Amazon at all just wondered what the rules were.

did you use supersaver delivery?
most places have pre orders dispatched so they arrive on the release day

That was our understanding custardy, the whole point in pre-ordering. Not sure on delivery option, girlfriend ordered it.
