Found a job! Cancelling job seekers?

Hi,

OH has finally found a full time job!
He is on contributions based JSA currently.

At which point do we tell the job centre hes found a job?
now? the day he starts? next time he signs on?

Thank you :D

OMG l thought from the title you meant your OH had a job going round wiping out anyone seeking jobs...

If the start date is before next signing date he just needs to fill in the back of his signing book, its asks the date and time of his first shift etc. If he signs on before job starts he can tell them then and they will sign him off from that date.

Do speak to JSA however as you may be entitled to other help, travel to work, housing benefit extension. etc

Don't be tempted to try and get another week out of them when you not entitled etc, not saying you would, but its just you can never escape owing them money.

    Congrats on the new job.

Yes my daugther started work 2 months ago, we informed the customer service people within 4 weeks. She was on a new deal for under 25s, and she got a travel allowance and some food vouchers as part of the deal. Paulofessex is right in finding out what else you may be entilted to, it's worth finding out.

    congrats!!!

Your OH can't have a new job as there are no Jobs ;) (sorry in a fuuny mood)

Yep, ring up the Jobcentre tomorrow, they will probably give you a number to ring. Ring up a few days beforehand and if there is anything he needs to start work, like petrol or bus fares, then is the time to say!

You will be surprised at the help you can get :)
