Paying Apartment Deposits

We've just reserved an apartment for February half term but the owner wants an "Ingresso" paying into a bank account in Spain. I assume that the ingresso is subsequently deducted from the total cost. Is that the case?
However, my main problem is in transferring the money. It seems to cost upwards of £25 just to do a bank transfer of 150 euros. I've emailed to ask if we can pay by CC or Paypal or even on arrival and await his response.
Does anyone know of a cheaper or alternative way of doing this or is that par for the course?
TIA
Steve

I've just hit the same problem. Owner wanted money wiring straight to his bank account and I didn't fancy that both because of the cost (£25 like you say) and possible fraud.
He wouldn't take VISA, but would take a cheque so maybe this is an option for you. You can get one drawn in Euros from your bank and send it on.
In the end, I plumped for sending Euros in cash by Airsure via my local post office. I know there is a risk it would go missing/get stolen, but I sent the minimum amount I could and paid the extra 50p for extra insurance. The package is traceable all the way through the system and compensation is payable if it goes missing.
Details on https://www.royalmail.com - the total cost for me was £5.57 and it got there in about 3 days.
I appreciate this is a bit risky, but hope it helps anyway.Does anyone know how to change my username? I was "Mr Investigation" and MSE's new software now shows it as "Dogsnob" !!!0 -
You can use a credit or debit card to send an online payment with Western Union
https://www.westernunion.co.uk/info/homePage.asp?country=GB
This can be accessed and drawn out at a local agent at the other end.
Can't find any indication of charges though0
