Breakdown Cover
Looking to get breakdown cover for myself and partner. I have been reading all of the information on the different types of cover and companies. We are looking for full cover the only thing we don't need is the european cover. We are willing to get cover on ourselves or the vehicles. I am just confused on who to go with. My partner wants to go with a more known company RAC or AA but I want to go with greenflag because the prices are better.
Anyone have any experience with any of these companies? Is it worth it to pay more money to go with one over the other.

I joined the AA.
Joint membership, relay, £88.49, with £42 cashback from topcashback, (when I get it) No one else came close to that.0 -
I use my Tesco clubcard point to buy joint RAC membership every year, might be worth looking at if you have any saved up.Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

Hello
Just thought I'd mention some bank accounts do breakdown insurance - barclays and TSB (there maybe more) maybe worthwhile checking whether you have that on your account or you could also upgrade for your account to get the benefit there are also benefits like travel insurance etc too
Not sure who you are insured with? As some companies have breakdown cover too again which can be added for cheaper sometimes. Thats what I did, my insurance use green flag and I found them too be good.0 -
If you have a credit card and can pay up front then AutoAid is a great product for £37.
Covers all your vehicles for spouses, so it's all done for one price (I am assuming legally married and not living together).0 -
Another happy Autoaid user here! I had a claim last year and the cheque from Autoaid was in my hands even before the credit card bill arrived. Great cover, great price and great service!0

Cashback seems one way to go at the moment. Some private suppliers of service come with great reviews but I know nothing about them. The big players have a reputation to keep and at the end of the day, they are not going to want some bolshy customer putting them in the national press and dragging them through the small claims court.
The small print of the T&C will be the deciding ground. If you are even going to take this product then you are scared of the consequences. So match product with your needs and check the exclusions.0 -
I am with green flag at the moment through my Clydesdale bank current account (£120 per annum fee, also includes annual travel cover + gadget and ID theft cover) but have yet had the opportunity, if that's the right word, to use it, thankfully! However my daughter is also with them and has used them several times over the last winter. We have been very pleased with the service received and the very courteous and efficient staff they have sent out and would recommend them heartily. I have also used the AA and the RAC in the past and they have also been fine, but most recently it has always been green flag.0

We (the old lady & I) moved from the AA to the RAC a couple of months back.
We pay £118 per year, and that gives us home start, breakdown, and recovery to wherever we choose if the vehicle can't be fixed.
Both of us are covered, and that is for any vehicle (car & bike) we are driving or happen to be a passenger in.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
