Weatherseal finance agreement issue....

Hi, My father in law(D) and late grandmother in law(GM), had a visit from a weatherseal sales person about 3 years ago. The sales person was very pushy and managed to get them to sign up for windows on finance! They put in the finance aggreement in GM's name as she was the house owner, they also put D's name on the application saying he worked full time and was earning £20K a year which he told them was not true he was not working at the time and now only works 20 hours a week. They said the info didn't matter it was just to get the paper work through to get the finance.

We discovered this 2 weeks later after the windows were put in, and were to say the least pretty annoyed at the sales person taking advantage of 2 elderly people. I did call and complain at the time, but was basically told that unless D was not of sound mind at the time of siging the finance agreement, tough luck!

Unfortunately GM passed away in February, so D has been left trying to find the £100 a month to keep paying these robbing sods. Is there anything we can legally do about this? It has not been paid last month, and they are now harrassing him with numerous letter per week!

Any advice on dealing with these people would be gratefully received.

If finance is in GM's name, its not FIL's debt, is it?

Sorry to be so clinical, but perhaps FIL should stop paying.

    IMHO.

It sounds like a joint agreement otherwise they wouldnt have needed his details on the application

the other problem is what do the terms say about recovery, be careful there isnt a right against the house.
