I rang them up yesterday and simply told them that I would like to cancel the PPI as I had never yet found anyone who paid up when you actually need them to [e.g., made redundant three years ago and would anyone pay up? HELL NO!!!].
The guy on the phone was really nice and told me that everything I've paid to date will be refunded on my October statement – obviously I've yet to see if that happens but I think it probably will as Capital One are trying to avoid one big legal quagmire where they've signed people up to PPI [whether they wanted it or not] and then failed to send out the policy documents. The guy I spoke to told me that they've even sent out the policy documents to people who have long since closed their accounts – anything to make sure that nothing comes back and bites Capital One in the a**! So I'd say go for it – if you get anything back that you've already paid out, surely that's a bonus?
I've got all my old statements anyway so will be able to check if I get the lot back... will keep you posted. If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

You bet wrong!!!
I had a letter from Capital One yesterday stating that they have refunded every penny of PPI I've paid PLUS the interest on those premiums and this will appear as a credit on my statement later this month! [All 82 pound something of it!!!] Yay!If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
