Self-employed & child tax credits

After some advice, please. My husband used to be a full-time employee, but was then made redundant.

He has found another position (thankfully), but it is as a contractor (IT), so we would have to register as self-employed.

How does this affect our child tax credits? Are they stopped because he's now self-employed, does it affect them at all?

Other information, if required: we have two children - 5 year old daughter, 1 year old son & I don't work.

Have done a quick search, but can't find anything pertaining to our situation in particular. Thanks for any advice.

Your CTC will not be affected and he could claim working tax credits if he works over 16 hours, however this is dependent on the amount he earns.
