  • This may be a "Specialist Renewal Team" case. If you give the main Tax Credit Helpline a call they should be able to advise if your renewal is inhibited. You may be one of the 400,000 customers who are being asked to call this number to renew as part of an exercise to make sure all the details we hold are correct and up to date. Nothing to worry about.

You should have received a letter asking you to call the specialist team but some of the letters haven't reached their intended destination for one reason or another.

If you are on of these cases then the helpline should be able to pass you through to the relevant specialist team. However, they are only open Monday to Friday.

Unfortunately the work of the Specialist Renewals Team hasn't filtered through to all of the Contact Centre advisers. If you still haven't heard anything in a day or two, call them back and ask if your award has been inhibited. There should be a note telling them if it has.
