Accessing photos from another PC

Options
Please help if you can :o

I have a folder full of very precious photos, on our laptop. Is there a way I can access this folder from another PC, without uploading them all to Photobucket, or putting them all onto a flashdrive..? Is this what's called file sharing, and how do I do it? Any advice greatly appreciated. My reason for asking is because my PC is already hooked up to the printer, that's all.

Depending on size: you could compress the files into a .zip or .rar file and send it by e-mail.

Or skydrive (http://skydrive.live.com) could be used to send files (personally never used before).

Or safer options: usb stick/ cd/ dvd to copy and burn them off the laptop and copy onto new pc. If they are precious photos, you would have a backup copy too if on cd/dvd

    if so..
Share the folder containing the pictures and open them from the other machine

Try using Opera's "Unite" file sharing system:

If both computers are already on a network you can create a folder 'share'. Usually you would first right click on the drive under My Computer on the laptop and set it up for sharing and assign it a share name.

Then on the main desktop PC you go to My Computer, and select 'Map Network Drive' - find the share name of the drive on the laptop and save it with a new drive letter, i.e. X: and from then on you should be able to access the laptop drive from your main desktop PC as though it was a hard drive on your computer.

This is just a general overview of the process, depending on your circumstances you might want to Google "how to map a network drive" for more detailed instructions.
