Can anyone advise how to calculate entitlement to working tax credits when one partner is a Phd student in receipt of a stipend £13,000 pa tax free and the other is working 16 hours per week earning £12,000 per annum?

Hi...excellent question!
I have got the same one...with the exception that my wife earns just under £30k.
We have a baby due at the end of September and of course I earn around £13.300 as a full time PhD student...
How tax credit works for PhD student is very grey area..nobody seems to have a clear answer, even at the tax office!
Hope somebody on MSE can help!
