Tax credits... do i get a rate higher than the family element???

Hi,
I seem to be totally confusing myself !!

I have just had twin girls (2 weeks ago) and i already have a 17 month old daughter. I had been told that i would proberly qualify for the sure start maternity grant for both of the twins.
I contacted the tax credits people with my new details etc and i have just had the new staement through.
I know i have to receive more than £1095 as i have the baby element, but is this my total tax credits??
The award has come back as £3513.59 which is £72.67 per week. Please can someone clarify that this is on a rate higher than the family element.

many thanks

The family element (per year) is £545, as is the new baby element.

    Thanks for the replys.

Is it the total tax credits (i.e the £3513.59 that i get) that has to be over the £1095 threshold??

    Thanks again

It has to be higher than 548 or £1095 if you have a baby under one. It isn't the total tax credit they look at, it is the total child tax credit element that they look at.

Your award breakdown should show on it what the CTC element is made up of.
