British Gas problems again!!!!!!

long story short, since moving into my house 6 months ago i have had british gas take 2 payments for my gas bill each time i paid via their online payment system, once in jan and then again in april. after finally getting that sorted end of april they said i'd be better to switch to d/d monthly variable which i'd planned on doing anyway so i let them set it up for me.

Got the email earlier this week to send them my meter readings and did predict a bill on their site from the readings i had taked from elec meter, that said around £48 which i was ok with, so i submitted my reading. it iniatially said £38.17 based on estimated read, and when i sent the actual read they said they would update my account to show the actual, the diff in numbers from estimated to actual wasnt a great deal.

however they have taken the £38.17 from my account yesterday when it's supposed to go out on the 24th as i selected. i decided to check my accounts to see if they had updated the bills and they're now saying my account is in debit by £201.82 and this will be taken from my account on or 3 days before the 7th june!!!!! what the hell???? how do they figure that???
they also never sent me a quarterly bill in april with my gas one, my account balance was at zero when i went to pay my gas one. i'm just so sick of the hassle i have with them, nothing is ever straightforward. i'm really struggling to understand how they can say £201.82.

my account meter readings say
6-5-10 ESTIMATED READING day 63860 night 29971
days consumption 1726kWh night consumption 447kWh

the reading i submitted just last night 21-5-10
day 64055 night 30022
days consumption 195.0 kWh night consumption 51kWh

i'm seriously stressing out now, which is no good really cos i cant speak to them til monday but i'm about in tears. my ex hubby walked out on me and the kids last year so i'm trying to manage on my own but british gas are making it really hard! i'm seriosuly considering switching but i just dont know if thats gonna be too much hassle too|!!!

Why have you chosen monthly whole bill direct debit instead of fixed monthly direct debit?

Your figures suggest you have used in the order of £300 of electricity. But most of it is day rate rather than night rate - is this correct and you are not using the E7 optimally? Or are the figures the wrong way round? But as you also suggest you have a gas account then maybe you just should not be using E7.

Bills are secondary - you must read your meters and work out yourself approximately how much you are using and spending. Once you have done that then you can try to parse any bills and figure out whether they are correct - but you have to start approximating things yourself first.
