MOT Fail Emissions

For VAG cars (VW, Audi, Skoda) there's something called VCDS. You can get a cable for that off ebay for £15 to use with a laptop and use the shareware version to read each code at a time (or pay for full version, or if naughty crack it). See Peugeot forums, there may be something similar. There may even be someone local on the forum who would read the codes for you for some beer tokens

That is common for any diesel car, every time our's is tested I make sure it gets banged up against the limiter half a dozen times before the sniffer goes up it's bum to take the final reading - and that procedure always results in a "fast pass"As crazy as this sounds.. my peugeot 206 Diesel failed on emissions, I had it tested at a local garage and the guys were great.. they drove it up and down the bypass a few times, came back, re-tested it and guess what - It passed!!
They said that this is quite common !Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
My fiat had a similar problem with emissions and lower fuel consumption (although not as drastic as a 50% cut). It was the lambda sensor that had gone - not the most expensive job in the world (it was about £50 iirc).0

Bit of redex helps as well. When we had a citroen 2CV my dad always used to put redex in it and rag it up the motorway to the test centre in 3rd. Gassed out the motorway but always passed emissions!yup it works, its a problem with cars that do lots of short journeys nad city driving
you need to give it a good rag and motorway speeds to get everything nice and hot0
